Job Description Summary Candidates should be passionate educators and practitioners who can facilitate the needs of diverse 21st century learners who aspire to practice in the field of Art.
Candidates should demonstrate (1) a mastery of their specific discipline; (2) competency teaching foundational skills including but not limited to: Beginning Drawing, 2D-Design, 3-Design and/or Computer Art; (3) a deep commitment to the college mission of fostering student success, achievement and persistence; (4) technology competencies as well as teaching/counseling skills and strategies that facilitate 21st century literacies; (5) the use of resources that prepare students for productive lives; (6) experience using various educational technological mediums.
Minimum Education: - MFA degree in Technical Theatre required or a Master's degree with 18 graduate credit hours in discipline taught.
Minimum Experience/Training: - Candidate should have experience teaching Theatre Production at the college level as well as college main stage production experience preferred.
- Position requires 15 credit hour teaching load with technical design of two theatrical presentations per semester.
- Experience teaching Lighting and Sound and/or Set Design and/or Stagecraft at the college level a plus.
- Three years of professional or college-level teaching experience preferred.
- The successful candidate must have a high level of computer literacy and a commitment to teaching.
- The successful candidate will be expected to maintain active professional development activities and service to the Department and College. Committee work is expected.
- The successful candidate must be willing and able to teach in both the traditional face-to-face and blended (hybrid) format.
- All schedules require office hours and some may require evening and/or weekend hours.
