Description
The Arts & History Manager position entails providing leadership, strategic oversight and direction for the division. This involves managing various budgets, overseeing cultural venues and collaborating with the Arts & History team to deliver diverse public programming and services, emphasizing inclusivity and alignment with city and department goals.

Essential Required Tasks/Examples of Duties

  • Leadership and strategic oversight and direction for the Arts & History division of the Library, Arts, History and CSU Extension Department.
  • Supports the department leadership team in department-wide strategy, leadership and initiatives.
  • Develops, administers, implements and evaluates clear and achievable division goals and vision, and aligns division goals and programs with city and department goals, including mission, vision and guiding principles.
  • In partnership with Arts & History team:
    • Oversees a variety of services related to public programming, projects, special events, grantmaking and activities. This includes public art, performing arts, visual arts, museum interpretations, exhibit, marketing and communications, and outreach.
    • Oversees management of multiple cultural venues and facilities, including an auditorium, mobile stage, museum and historical collection. This includes preservation of the Broomfield Depot Museum and management of the Broomfield Auditorium.
    • Manages various budgets, including a variety of revenue sources and expenditure tracking including general city funds, CIP funds, grants and grant writing, sponsorships and donations.
    • Communicates clear roles and responsibilities of the Arts & History team and contributes to review of programs, policies, procedures and effective operations.
  • Provides staff oversight, including development, supervision, coaching, clear communication, delegation, evaluation and prioritization of work.
  • Works in partnership with colleagues, other departments and divisions, external agencies and the public to support cultural, historical and educational initiatives and related public relations.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with local, regional, state and federal government offices, groups, organizations and artists to understand and cultivate the division's role in regional cultural and historical trends, initiatives and discussions.
  • Prioritizes diversity, equity, inclusion, and access in all internal and external programs, policies and operations.
  • Liaises with the advisory Arts, History and Cultural Council board and attends various other City boards and commissions or community-based organization meetings.
  • Attends and/or makes presentations at meetings of various City boards and commissions and City Council meetings, special meetings and study sessions.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university - required
  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university - preferred
Experience -
  • 4 years experience required in Arts or Museum Programs and Venues Management.
  • 3 years supervision experience required.
Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience.

Schedule
  • Work is generally performed at City/County work locations with the ability to perform some duties remotely in accordance with Broomfield's remote work policy.
  • Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday with some weekday evenings, weekend and holiday work required.
  • Attend meetings as required during evening hours. Some meetings will require in-person attendance.
  • In-person customer/client/team meetings required.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical demands are described as sedentary (exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time).
  • Required to move about office/facilities.
  • Required to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Required to communicate and/or detect sounds.
  • Tasks may require use of a computer for several hours.
Working Environment
  • Requires indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Travel by automobile is required to attend meetings.
