Calm Source is looking to add a Virginia Department of Counseling Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Provider to lead the ARTS programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties that are assigned:

  • Work with providers on how to assist clients to develop recovery skills through treatment planning, care coordination, referrals, and group or individual counseling sessions
  • Contributing to the ongoing assessment and treatment planning process through participation in daily reports, case reviews, and treatment team meetings.
  • Providing crisis interventions as needed.
  • Ensuring patient confidentiality.
  • Providing supportive counseling in conjunction with Medical and Nursing Services.
  • Ensure patients submit to monthly random drug screening
  • Drug and alcohol counseling and support to individual clients and their families
  • Discover the underlying cause of addiction
  • Understand and advise addicts and alcoholics on how drugs or alcohol affect special health considerations such as pregnancy, mental health conditions, or chronic health issues like diabetes or high blood pressure
  • Stay informed and in touch with community resources and support groups
  • Provide information and promotional materials
  • Educate family or friends and caregivers on how to help addicts stay on track
  • Work with other health professionals to create an individual treatment plan
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment programs
  • Monitor client progress
  • Be aware of the signs of recidivism
  • Keep detailed notes on patient interaction


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The most qualified candidates will possess the following:

  • Master's degree in Counseling or a related field.
  • Must have at least one year of experience as a substance abuse counselor.
  • Must be registered with the Virginia Substance Abuse Professional Certification board - applicants who are not registered will not be considered for employment.
  • CSAC, LMFT, LPC, LSATP, or LCSW license is required.
  • Experience treating opioid-addicted patients is not a requirement but is preferred.
  • No legal impediments to serving in a licensed opiate treatment program.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • If recovering, three years of continuous verifiable abstinence is required
