Title: Associate Footwear Designer, Aerosoles

General Summary

Designs innovative products true to the brand DNA. The Designer will manage the design process in a collaborative work environment translating knowledge of market trends into globally relevant, innovative, commercial designs. The Designer will develop and then implement designs that capture new markets, increase consumer demand, and deliver on the design assignment from the product team in a timely manner.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Apply seasonal brand direction, market research, and trend insight.
• Hand sketch concepts for multiple design projects. Help prepare design boards for presentations.
• Develop and create digital renderings of new design concepts, materializing them in Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Create technical drawings (tech-packs) providing all information needed for the factory.
• Communication with overseas development teams and factories, including leather and fabric vendors.
• Manage projects from conceptualization to finished product adhering to calendar deadlines.
• Review prototypes and correct in a timely manner and update tech packs and sketches to reflect agreed upon changes and modifications.
• Collaborate with the production team to design products within specific pricing and market segment goals.
• Collaborate and clearly communicate with production and design teams to ensure design objectives are reflected in the creation and execution of the product.
• Collaborate with and support peers and sales teams to ensure the season runs smoothly.
• Proactively anticipate how to manage design deadlines in order to meet critical dates.
• Attendance at tradeshows and events may also be required as directed.
• In partnership with Sr. Designers, makes decisions on coloring the line (applying materials and colors). Provide market specs and confirmation specs to factories using Excel format.
• Take inventory and unbox market samples. Set the samples up in the showroom for buyer meetings.
• In partnership with Sr. Designers, help to confirm shoes for production. Pass comments and corrections to factories. Help with any shipping needs.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Ability to use market research, trends and industry knowledge to participate in upcoming design meetings
• Must be a team player, exhibiting strong communication skills and flexibility
• Strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills, attention to detail and accuracy
• Professional demeanor and customer service oriented
• Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite; Illustrator and Photoshop
• Ability to sketch, CAD and understand foundational design elements

Experience

• Experience creating technical drawings, tech-packs, CADS and merchandising boards

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in fashion or industrial design

Salary: $70k - $75k

Location: This role is hybrid - 3-4 days a week on site at our NYC HQ.
