Hours Worked: 5 hours per week, Sundays required

Position Summary:
The Childrens Ministry Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Childrens Ministry Director and ensuring the smooth operation of Sunday programming and volunteer engagement. This role involves coordinating volunteers, assisting with teaching, and providing administrative and relational support to children, families, and the ministry team.

Tasks:

• Schedule and communicate with volunteers weekly regarding their volunteer shifts for Sunday worship. Send out lessons and reminders for teaching a week in advance.
• Assist CM Director by checking in with the volunteers for each REH Childrens class by praying with them, responding to their questions or needs pre-Sunday morning service.
• Assist in teaching or fill-in as needed.
• Maintain consistent, accurate attendance records for classes.
• Serve as the point of contact for the Childrens Ministry in the absence of the Childrens Ministry Director.
• Manage a birthday calendar and send greetings to children and volunteers.
• Lead a monthly Family Community Group to foster connection and support among families.
• Help plan and execute Special Events such as volunteer lunches and trainings, VBS, service projects, church outreaches.

Qualifications:

• Need to embrace Redeemers vision and have a gospel-oriented heart for New York City, especially East Harlem. Heart for God, the reformed faith, families and children
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills: ability to deal with demanding and challenging people and adapt to changes and maintain professionalism during crisis or any unexpected situations.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Minimum four-year undergraduate degree preferred
• 1-3 years of experience in childrens ministry plus.
• Must have ministry experience and previous work experience overseeing people.
• Must be a team player
