CREC Preschool at Progress Drive - Associate Instructor - JOB ID# 13096 Position Type: Support Staff/ Associate Instructor Date Posted: 3/18/2025 Closing Date: 03/28/2025 Location: CREC Preschool at Progress Drive, 123 Progress Drive, Wethersfield General Purpose: This position is responsible for creating and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum; coordinating classroom activities, and maintaining NAEYC accreditation standards. Works as a team member with all appropriate personnel. Summary of Responsibilities: Support daily functions of the school including but not limited to arrival, dismissal, recess, lunch coverage, and covering classrooms. Plan and implement a variety of creative learning activities: arts and crafts; music and movement; stories, games, and team-building activities. Supports classroom team in preparing and implementing a successful learning environment that supports and challenges each child's development. Observes and records children's behavior for the purpose of assessing skills and planning appropriately, to meet individual and group needs. Maintains the space, equipment, materials and supplies in a safe, clean and orderly fashion. Maintain confidentiality of child and family information at all times. Assist children in development of social and self-help skills. Maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment. Creates, fosters and maintains a positive culture and climate across the program and supports the mission and vision of CREC. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required, in Early Childhood Education preferred. Two years’ experience in a preschool classroom is preferred. Demonstrated track record working and supporting the needs of racially and socially diverse families, children, and staff. Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus. Strong planning and organization skills. Ability to stand for most of the day, bend, stand up, run, jump suddenly to respond to children needs or during activities. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as related to children’s care needs.
