Perfectly positioned at Rockefeller Centers doorstep with a birds eye view of the bustling plaza below, the 33-story design-forward hotel, developed by Extell, offers expansive, coveted views of the city skyline. The third New York City addition to the Kimpton portfolio, the striking tower features 529 guest rooms and inspired social spaces, including two full-service restaurants, a lobby lounge and a rooftop bar. Additional amenities include a fitness center and two spaces to host unique meetings and social gatherings.

Overview

The Director of Housekeeping will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the housekeeping operations, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, guest satisfaction, and operational efficiency for the hotel. This role is critical in maintaining the pristine condition of all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces, significantly contributing to the overall guest experience.

This role requires a dynamic leader who can strategically plan, organize, and direct the department through periods of significant change and growth, ensuring seamless operations while upholding brand standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing housekeeping team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
    • Oversee daily operations, including room assignments, inspections, and inventory management.
    • Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and service standards.
    • Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions to ensure continuous improvement and adherence to standards.
    • Foster a culture of exceptional guest service within the department.
  • Quality Assurance & Standards:
    • Maintain exceptionally high standards of cleanliness, order, and appearance in all guest rooms, suites, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
    • Regularly inspect rooms and public areas to ensure compliance with hotel and brand cleanliness standards.
    • Implement and monitor effective quality control programs.
    • Address guest complaints and concerns promptly and effectively, ensuring complete guest satisfaction.
  • Financial Management & Budgeting:
    • Prepare, manage, and adhere to the departmental budget, controlling labor costs, supply expenses, and linen inventories.
    • Analyze financial data and implement strategies to improve profitability and efficiency without compromising quality.
  • Pre-Opening Expertise:
    • Pre-opening: Develop and execute comprehensive pre-opening plans for the housekeeping department, including staffing, training, procurement of supplies and equipment, and establishment of all operational procedures.
    • Strategically manage housekeeping operations during opening phases, minimizing disruption, ensuring safety, and coordinating effectively with construction teams. This includes planning for temporary setups, and deep cleaning schedules.
    • Participate in the selection and procurement and OS&E (Operating Supplies and Equipment) related to Housekeeping.
  • Inventory & Equipment Management:
    • Manage inventory of linens, cleaning supplies, guest supplies, and uniforms, ensuring adequate stock levels while minimizing waste.
    • Oversee maintenance and upkeep of all housekeeping equipment .
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Implement and maintain strict security procedures for guest rooms and hotel property.
Qualifications

Qualifications

Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in hotel operations, with at least 3-5 years as a Director or Assistant Director of Housekeeping in a luxury hotel setting. Proven experience in a high-volume, fast-paced urban market, preferably New York City. Demonstrated success in managing Front Office and Housekeeping departments.

  • Demonstrated experience with hotel pre-opening and/or extensive renovation projects is essential.
  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, financial management, and inventory control.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to train, motivate, and develop a diverse team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in hotel management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required.
  • Requires manual dexterity to operate cleaning equipment and handle supplies.

  • Base Salary: $110K - $130K
