YOUR IMPACT

Public affairs leader engaging with legislators and regulatory agencies to educate about independent industry self-regulatory frameworks and public policy aligned with our goals. You will develop and execute strategies that strengthen our mission, while activating your relationships with government officials, industry stakeholders, and internal stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leverage existing and new relationships with federal and state legislative and regulatory bodies to expand our influence and broaden the impact of industry self-regulation.
  • Develop and execute public affairs strategy to expand our influence and support long-term organizational goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key government officials, industry stakeholders, and relevant organizations to advance the organization’s public affairs objectives.
  • Analyze bills for potential impact on industry self-regulation and draft language for potential self-regulatory program opportunities.
  • Create thought leadership connected with potential regulatory topics, formulate our position, and identify appropriate engagement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including the senior leadership team and industry experts, to ensure alignment in educational efforts.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Must have:

  • 7+ years of experience in Public Affairs, Government Affairs, Hill or Administration, with specific experience in engaging federal and state legislative and regulatory bodies.
  • Established relationships with key federal and state legislators and regulators.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic public affairs plans to achieve organizational goals.
  • Strong connection with and interest in expanding the impact of independent industry self-regulation.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly proactive and persistent in securing meetings with key stakeholders, demonstrating a strategic and calculated approach to outreach.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, navigate busy schedules, and effectively engage government officials and other critical influencers.
  • Deep understanding of the political process, legislative procedures, and policy-making dynamics.
