East End Prep Elementary School Principal (grades K-4)

East End Prep is looking for a strong leader with exceptionally high expectations for students combined with a “whatever it takes” attitude toward students’ meeting those expectations. Located in the heart of East Nashville, East End Prep is empowering K-8 students with the habits, skills, and knowledge necessary to excel at high levels in high school and beyond. At East End Prep, we are built on the firm belief that great teachers and leaders given the right tools and support to perform on a high level and “work their magic” is the key to long term, sustainable student and school success.

SUMMARY : The East End Prep Elementary School Principal will be responsible for leading grades Kindergarten – 4th grade. The Principal will work closely with the School Director, 5-8 Middle School Principal and other school leaders to lead and implement an aligned academic and cultural vision.

Start date: June 2025

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop a highly talented group of educators to build the foundation for grades K - 4
  • Lead and manage a team of teachers, instructional experts, and culture team to maximize student achievement and fulfill the mission of East End Prep.
  • Accelerate and lead a culture of high expectations, accountability, and ownership for students and staff to advance student achievement and close the achievement gap for East End Prep scholars.
  • Improve and lead the curricular and instructional practices and systems to drive exceptional student achievement for grades K - 4.
  • Accelerate instructional staff on data-driven instruction, student-ownership of learning and outcomes, and a culture of achievement throughout the school.
  • Maintain a strong and inspiring literacy culture and related support systems.
  • Lead student culture systems to drive and cultivate a high standard of excellence for student character and behavior.
  • Accelerate and lead a culture of student leadership and ownership through structures and systems based on leadership habits and principles.
  • Lead and engage East End Prep families in what it means to fully support elementary school students in an environment of high expectations, investing families in their scholar’s attendance and maintaining frequent touchpoints with communication
  • Design and lead professional development opportunities and events for families to develop their capacity to fully support their scholar’s educational experience.
  • Work in concert with the 5-8 principal and school leaders to cultivate an aligned vertical matriculation of academic and school cultural experiences for scholars and families.
  • Participate as a key member of the executive team in making key strategic decisions to support long term priorities and continuous organizational improvement and excellence.

ROLE PREREQUISITES:

  • A minimum of 5 years teaching experience preferred with demonstrated track record of high performance
  • A track record of proven results with a mindset that results measure performance
  • A mindset of ownership over the entire team's results, even if it falls under another team member's official area of supervision -- actively offering time, resources, and support for the greater good
  • An asset based approach to leading the team- pushes people to reach their full potential through clear and direct feedback that communicates an expectation of ownership of results.
  • Demonstrated instructional and culture building skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to coach teachers to improve student achievement by modeling, practicing, and providing actionable steps to improving performance
  • Demonstrated ability to speak and write clearly, succinctly and persuasively such that expectations are clear, timelines are delineated, and excellence is defined
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities from a variety of sources, organizing and prioritizing effectively to impact areas of greatest need;
  • Experience organizing and facilitating effective meetings;
  • Ability to deconstruct complex problems and develop coherent, actionable strategies;
  • Maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and “roll-up-my-sleeves” attitude
  • Awareness and control of their emotional state, can quickly “read a room” (awareness of where others are), and gauge their emotional impact on others.
