Job Description

Our client, a manufacturer in the Mentor, Ohio area, is looking for a Human Resources Manager. As a key member of the management group, this position oversees Human Resource operations, administers policies, procedures and programs.

Salary starts at $97,000/year, commensurate with experience

Principal Activities and Responsibilities

  • Recruits, screens, hires, and performs new hire orientation for new employees.
  • Leads initiatives in conjunction with company culture and values to provide or recommend personal and professional development and training.
  • Collaborates with the team on the interpretation and administration of the collective bargaining agreement. Provides timely and consistent response to employment related actions. Gathers and communicates contractually required information to the union.
  • Maintains all employment related records, including attendance and benefit eligibility records. Assists employees with benefit programs, questions and claims issues.
  • Manages the leave of absence, Workers’ Compensation and FMLA processes. Works with employees, insurance carriers and healthcare providers to encourage timely benefit payments and a smooth return to work transition.
  • Administers various site programs including drug free workplace, sexual harassment, smoking, workplace violence, anti-discrimination, disciplinary and other policies.
  • Collaborates with employees and site leadership team to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. Acts as liaison with safety team.
  • Practices and sustains ISO procedures and policies, implementing and tracking appropriate metrics to achieve continual improvement.
  • Identifies and appropriately maintains documents, including those that must be retained for legal or knowledge preservation.

Qualifications:

  • BA degree preferred
  • Experience working with unions required
  • At least 5 years experience in human resources at a managerial level
  • Experience working at a manufacturer greatly preferred
  • Working knowledge of government laws, rules and regulations pertaining to human resources.
