General Job Description:
The Laboratory Manager will oversee and coordinate operations of the laboratory, ensuring smooth functioning and optimal utilization of resources. The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely analyses, managing laboratory personnel, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. As well as managing all laboratory related projects such as, but not limited to, future lab expansion, LIMS implementation, process optimization, Laboratory certification, etc.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Manage any major company initiatives such as LIMS implementation, laboratory expansion, improvement of quality systems and reducing turnaround time.
· Oversee the day-to-day operations of the analytical laboratory, including scheduling and coordination of analytical testing.
· Ensure that all analytical tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner, in accordance with established protocols and quality standards. Monitor test schedule to ensure turnaround estimates are met.
· Manage laboratory personnel, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
· Develop and maintain laboratory procedures and documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
· Monitor laboratory inventory and coordinate the procurement of necessary supplies and equipment.
· Implement and maintain a quality management system, including method validation, calibration, and quality control measures. Coordinate the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory processes and workflows.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support research and development projects.
· Stay current with industry trends and technological advancements in analytical techniques.
· Act as a liaison between the laboratory and regulatory agencies, as required.
· Promote and maintain a safe and clean laboratory environment. Establish and enforce laboratory safety protocols and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
· Monitor and maintain inventory levels of laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment, and ensure timely procurement as needed.
· Ensure the maintenance of laboratory equipment, coordinating repairs and calibrations (OQ and PM) as required.
· Manage laboratory databases and record-keeping systems for accurate and efficient data management.
· Oversee the peer review of analytical notebooks and Certificates of Analysis (COA).
Qualifications
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or related field. Masters Degree preferred
Experience:
· Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a GLP regulated laboratory setting, with at least 2 years of experience in a management role
Key Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Extensive knowledge of HPLC, LC/MC, ICP/MS, and other lab equipment use, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
· Strong understanding of quality control principles, including method validation, calibration, and documentation.
· Familiarity with regulatory requirements, such as ISO 17025 and FDA guidelines.
· Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
· Strong leadership qualities, with the ability to motivate and mentor laboratory staff.
· Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
