Litigation Legal Assistant/Paralegal

Oakland, CA

Note: This position is hybrid and requires employees to be on-site 3 days a week at the Oakland office.

Job Description

  • Provide administrative support to the firm’s Litigation Group
  • Assist with drafting, reviewing, and revising legal documents, including pleadings and correspondence
  • Prepare and format documents for court filings (both federal and state)
  • Manage case files and organize legal documents for easy access
  • Maintain attorneys’ calendars and ensure deadlines are met, including court dates and filings
  • Communicate professionally with clients, attorneys, and other staff members
  • Use software tools such as Microsoft Office, Adobe, and document management systems to perform daily tasks efficiently
  • Support attorneys with trial preparation and assist during all phases of litigation

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Must have eminent domain background OR, at minimum, construction defect experience.
  • 7+ years of legal assistant experience, with a focus on litigation
  • Paralegal certificate or equivalent
  • Familiarity with California state and federal court procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with legal software and calendaring tools
