Description
As a Material Staging Technician, you will be responsible for managing the flow of materials in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Your primary duty will involve ensuring that materials are properly staged, organized, and prepared for production or distribution according to established procedures and schedules. You will work closely with production teams, inventory managers, and logistics personnel to maintain efficient operations and minimize disruptions. The Material Staging Technician position is a regular full-time hourly non-exempt position reporting directly to the Production Manager.
• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials and supplies. Safely handle and transport materials using appropriate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or conveyors.
• Organize and stage materials according to production schedules and work orders. Ensure that materials are readily accessible to production teams and properly labeled for identification.
• Conduct visual inspections of materials for damage, defects, or inconsistencies. Follow established procedures for quarantine or rejection of non-conforming materials.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines when handling and storing materials. Identify and report any safety hazards or concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Coordinate with various departments, including production, procurement, and shipping, to ensure timely delivery and availability of materials. Communicate effectively with team members to address any issues or concerns.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality within the material staging function. Provide input and feedback on procedures, equipment, and workflow optimization.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on material handling equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation. Report any mechanical issues or malfunctions for prompt repair or servicing.
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in logistics, supply chain management, or related field preferred.
• Proven experience in material handling, staging, or warehouse operations within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inventory management and record-keeping.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for handling hazardous materials.
Physical Requirements: • Must pass a medical exam, including a test to capably lift 80lbs from floor to chest height on a regular basis throughout the day, as needed
• The job involves physical labor, including lifting heavy stone countertops, carrying materials, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods. Installers should be in good physical condition and able to handle the demands of the job.
