The Client Development team is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented and enthusiastic Media Relations Coordinator to support Firm's media strategy and reach both external and internal audiences. The role is ideal for someone with passion for storytelling, who wants to work on corporate PR campaigns across a wide variety of industry and business trends. The Media Relations Coordinator will report to the Senior Manager of Corporate Communications and work within a global team to grow the Firm's media presence and brand through a blend of traditional media relations, Firm announcements, thought leadership and other strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities - Providing firm-wide media relations support, including:
- Outreach to trade, business, and broadcast outlets to secure press coverage for select practices.
- Identifying opportunities to align Firm offerings and expertise with topics in the news cycle.
- Drafting media briefings for lawyer and talent interview preparation and media trainings.
- Managing a media contact database, including updating reporter contact information to maintain currency.
- Assist with drafting, reviewing and placing Proskauer content:
- Draft press releases and write-ups for internal and external announcements including deals, litigation wins, other notable matters and new hires.
- Develop content including bylines and Q&As and ensure any written materials align with the Firm strategy, priorities and practice goals.
- Review editorial calendars for opportunities to showcase Firm expertise and talent.
- Review and synthesize data from new or existing Firm research and materials.
- Help with data collection and tracking of Media Team efforts:
- Maintain records of team calls, including due-outs and takeaways for team members.
- Work with other members of the Communications Team to track all PR and media coverage as well as select campaigns and produce related reports.
- Assist with gathering data and drafting submissions for Firm surveys.
Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree with 1-3 years of experience in a communications- or marketing-related role or history working on public relations and marketing projects.
- Business-to-business, legal or financial services PR experience preferred.
- Knowledge of the media landscape and ongoing readership of major outlets.
- Strong writer and ability to distill complex materials into digestible content across different channels.
- High level of creativity and a natural ability to think 'outside the box'.
- Energetic and enthusiastic team player with a high degree of drive and personal initiative.
- Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality control.
- Flexibility to adjust schedule according to workload demands.
This position will require some physical presence in Proskauer's offices on a weekly basis. The anticipated compensation range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
