Position Summary The MEDITECH Report Designer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining reports and data extracts within the MEDITECH system. This role involves collaborating with various healthcare departments to analyze data needs, translating business requirements into technical specifications, and generating insightful reports to support clinical, operational, and financial decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Generate complex operational and statistical reports and extracts using MEDITECH report writing tools, including NPR Report Writer and Report Designer.
- Generate reports, data files, queries, sub-queries, nested queries, and complex SQL statements using industry standard tools, such as SQL, SSRS and SSIS.
- Optimize and improve performance of scheduled reports and data file generation e.g. trend and exception analysis, spreadsheets, graphs, charts, drill downs, correlations, etc... by updating SQL statements and indexing, by updating MEDITECH NPR and Report Designer reports.
- Reconcile discrepancies between the expectations of management requests and information presented in reports and files; Validate and prove to the decision makers that the data presented is valid and accurate.
- Present timely, up to date, and time sensitive reports or nightly reports that need to run successfully before the day shift starts or reports that are compiled at the end of a quarter or business cycle.
- Develop test scripts, policies, and procedures.
- Document detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and application specifications.
- Communicate effectively with non-technical staff in both verbal and written formats.
- Assist in performing integration and unit/module testing
Requirements
- 5+ years of systems analysis experience, preferably in a health care environment
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Knowledge of SQL Reporting Services, SQL Integration Services, Power BI and Qlik Dashboards
- Delivery of past software systems with documented value required.
- Strong focus on delivering customer value required.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analysis, and problem-solving abilities required.
- Ability to engineer and build software through multiple languages and tools required.
- Previous experience of testing information systems
- Experience in developing complex SQL scripts, views, and stored procedures as well as in creating and customizing MEDITECH Data Repository reports.
- Prior experience & working knowledge of MEDITECH information systems
- Previous experience of testing information systems
- Knowledge and proven experience with MEDITECH NPR Report Writer and/or Report Designer
- Knowledge and proven experience writing complex MEDITECH Magic code to navigate MEDITECH data structures and interact with various output methodologies (i.e. Download, FTP, Spool)
- Experience in developing complex SQL scripts, views, and stored procedures as well as in creating and customizing MEDITECH Data Repository reports.
