Summary

In the role of Member Services - Teller, you will be essential in delivering outstanding member service while managing financial transactions with accuracy. Your core skills in banking, cash handling, and basic math will be vital as you assist customers with deposits, withdrawals, and account inquiries. Additionally, your premium skills in customer relationship management and financial sales will enhance customer satisfaction and drive business growth. With a focus on fraud prevention and effective cash management, you will contribute to the overall success of our financial institution in a dynamic and customer-focused environment.

Please note: This position is contracted through Robert Half and is considered temporary or a temp-to-hire role for the credit union.

This in-person role requires a minimum of three days per week, Monday-Friday, 8 AM – 4:30 PM or 9 AM – 5:30 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Major Duties and Responsibilities 45% Welcomes members and demonstrate efficiency with financial transactions for members in lobby or over the telephone
  • Receives funds, posts transactions and pays out funds as requested and per policy
  • Verbally confirm intended transactions with members to assure needs are met and minimize redoing
  • Provides appropriate solutions and cross-sells credit union services
  • Balances cash drawer daily to assure accuracy in transactions and notifies supervisor regarding any outages
  • Appropriately applying policies
  • Receives loan payments and savings deposits from members, addresses inquiries on accounts, records amounts and dates of payments and other significant information, checks customer calculations and validates checks and/or counts cash payments
  • Issues cashier's checks, receives currency for coin and verifies amounts, cashes checks according to written procedures
  • Research, troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries regarding policies, practices and products
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Assist other departments and branches with transactions as needed, provide support for the department and branch managers in fulfilling member requests and merchant verifications
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control

Qualifications

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

  • High school degree or GED required

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs on occasion
  • Must be able to stand, sit, walk for extend periods of time
  • Reach and grasp using arms, hands and fingers
  • Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation
  • Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator
  • Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary
  • Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management
  • Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled work area with minimal noise

MENTAL AND/OR EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team
  • Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions
  • Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence
  • Must be able to use basic math skills and spell accurately up to a high school graduate level
  • Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public
  • Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines/requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities
  • Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications
