Job Description

This is a LOS ANGELES BASED HYBRID POSITION . No all remote candidates will be considered.

Overview:

Our client, an industry leading Toy Company, is seeking an experienced and creative Senior Packaging Designer to join their dynamic team. In this role, you will lead the design and development of innovative, eye-catching packaging solutions that enhance their licensed and internal IP brand’s presence and ensure the safety, functionality, and sustainability of their toy products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including marketing, product development, and manufacturing—to bring captivating packaging concepts from ideation to production.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Development:

  • Conceptualize, design, and refine packaging for a diverse portfolio of toy products, ensuring designs are engaging, practical, and reflective of the brand’s identity.
  • Develop prototypes and oversee the transformation of initial sketches and digital designs into production-ready packaging.

Project Leadership:

  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, product development, supply chain) to integrate design insights and technical requirements.

Technical & Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure all packaging designs adhere to industry safety standards and regulatory requirements, particularly those specific to toys.
  • Work with vendors and manufacturers to understand material specifications, production techniques, and cost constraints.

Innovation & Trend Analysis:

  • Stay updated on the latest design trends, sustainable packaging innovations, and emerging technologies in packaging design.
  • Propose creative solutions that balance aesthetics, sustainability, and functionality.

Qualifications:

  • TOY INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE IS STRONGLY PREFERRED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Design, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in packaging design, preferably within the toy or consumer goods industry.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in packaging design, with a keen eye for detail and creativity.
  • Proficient in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and 3D modeling/CAD software.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to multitask and manage competing deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of material properties, printing processes, and production techniques.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively interact with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
