Position: Part Time Office Assistant I
Department: Ellen Trout Zoo
Reports To: Zoo Office Assistant III
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Pay: $11.50 per hour
DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Office Assistant I to join our team. This entry-level position provides essential administrative support to ensure smooth daily operations. The ideal candidate will handle clerical tasks, assist with office organization, and provide excellent customer service.
QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous office experience is a plus but not required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Must hold a valid Texas Drivers' license at time of hire.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge of basic data entry.
• Knowledge of basic filing.
• Skilled in using Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Skills in basic math and cash handling.
• Skills in interpersonal communication, both verbal and written.
• Skills in organization and time management.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain, including bending, stooping, and lifting objects up to 20 pounds.
MAJOR DUTIES
• Answer and direct phone calls, emails, and other communications.
• Greet visitors and help as needed.
• Maintain and organize office files, records, and documents.
• Perform data entry and update databases with accurate information.
• Assist in scheduling meetings.
• Handle incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and deliveries.
• Assist with daily deposits and invoices.
• Create PO's and place online orders
This position is an essential service position and will require providing services during emergency situations.
