Provides basic patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse. Provides high quality care to the following patient populations: Adult, Medical/Surgical, Geriatric, Telemetry, Cardiac, Neonate, Infant, Toddler, School Age, Adolescent, and Psychiatric care patients. Duties include but are not limited to: Perform Bedside shift report and beginning and end of shift; utilize policies and procedures to keep patients safe from falls; assist in wound prevention and hospital acquired pressure injuries; care for restrained patients and monitor for safety; cost conscious use of equipment and supplies; adhere to safety practices for personal protection; demonstrate keyboarding proficiency and computer navigation skills; knowledge of basic math to calculate intake and output; set up equipment such as oxygen, portable x-ray machines, and overhead irrigation bottles. Responsibilities include answering patients' call lights timely, performing skin assessments, activities of daily living, maintaining clean patient rooms, collecting and labeling specimens, delivering messages and specimens, feeding patients, observing and reporting patient conditions, assisting with walking and moving, transporting patients, turning and repositioning patients, monitoring safety devices, documenting activities, performing blood glucose monitoring, using bed/chair alarms, greeting visitors, facilitating admissions/discharges/transfers, operating office equipment, and performing clerical and administrative functions. Required qualifications include H.S. Diploma or GED, completion of CNA course or within four months of hire, computer experience, and preferred healthcare experience within last five years. Mandatory reporting training and emergency response training required within specified timeframes. Behavioral health duties include interacting with patients, conducting groups, observing and reporting behavior, supervising patients, and using Non-Violent Crisis Intervention techniques.
