Summary Description:
Assist Engineering & Quality Manager in completing tool order in a timely fashion as they relate to bench processes.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday 7:00am -3:30pm
Essential Functions:
- Machined Tooling
- After patterns have been machined, ensure that the pattern meets specifications and verify quality.
- Mount gating.
- Install venting.
- Wood Tooling
- Studies customer prints and determines components needed to make patterns.
- Makes master wood patterns in compliance with the customer’s specifications.
- Mounts the pattern on a board, rigs it to the flask size and adds the gating.
- General Pattern Work
- Upon request, checks current patterns to determine if an existing pattern can be used to meet the customer’s requirements or whether an existing pattern can be modified to do so.
- Makes on-line repairs to patterns as requested or required.
- Repairs core boxes as required.
- Rigs shell core boxes to fit shell core machines.
- Assists in troubleshooting problem products to determine needed modifications to patterns.
- Work with CAD designers to make sure that tool orders are in place for all bench work.
- Maintains a clean work area.
- Carries out all duties & responsibilities in full accordance with the Company’s policies & procedures.

- Records time in Odyssey and through tool orders.
- Performs other related duties as required or requested.

- Gating and venting questions should be referred to the Engineering &Quality Manager
- During the course of any pattern repair work, check equipment for dents, nicks, flat spots, lettering, etc. Repair as necessary to eliminate scrap or re-work.

- Hearing Protection (while working in elevated noise areas)

- Leather Gloves
- Safety Rules & Functions:
- Solvents, glues, paints, aerosols & other flammables must be kept in metal safety cabinet when in bulk.
- Machine Guards:
- Radial saws must have blade guards on each side of the blade and an automatic retraction mechanism in place before operating.
- Table saws must have guards in place at all times.
- Band saws must have a guard over the entire non-cutting portion of the blade before operating.
- Grinding wheel tool rests must be within 1/8” of wheel surface at all times. Tongue guards may not have more than ¼” clearance and the spindle nut must be covered.
- Any tools with mushroomed heads, loose handles, etc. are strictly prohibited and should be replaced or repaired.
- Only approved air nozzles/blow guns with safety tips are to be used; Air nozzles/blow guns are not to be altered in any manner.
- Do not leave machines running while unattended.
- Loose clothing may not be worn when operating equipment.
- Maintain clear isles (not blocking exits, extinguishers, etc.)
- Follow all other department & plant-wide safety rules.
- Carries out all duties & responsibilities in full accordance with the Company’s safety program & procedures.
Requirements:
Skills or Experience Required:
- Must have High School diploma or GED.
