Senior Director of Public Relations Millersville University
Department: Staff in Office of Community Engagement, Government and Economic Development
Nature of Position: Permanent, Full-time
Job Summary/Basic Function The Senior Director of Public Relations plans and organizes the university's public relations programs, including media relations, community relations, social media and crisis management, and oversees the strategic communication of Millersville University's image through news releases, publications such as the Review Magazine, Millersville News, newsletters and the website. The Senior Director serves as the spokesperson for the University and also is the Public Information Officer for MUPD. Essential to sustaining the University's positive image and competitive position. The Senior Director supports the university's strategic efforts, such as student recruitment, fundraising, and alumni relations.

Annual Salary: $100,000-113,000.00, plus comprehensive benefits starting on the first day of employment, including:

Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, communications, English or related area.
- At least 10 years communications experience in a complex organization with responsibility for directing a comprehensive and successful program.
- Managerial and organization skills and senior management experience.
- Superior communication skills including writing, editing and public speaking.
- Understanding of print and electronic media.
- Understanding of social media.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Successful interview.
- Successful completion of three background checks.
Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree.
- Experience working with a police department and/or crisis management.
- Experience serving as a company spokesperson.
Job Description Essential Functions - No or extremely limited physical effort.
- No or extremely limited exposure to physical risks.
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Ability to sit for long lengths of time.
- Must be able to lift/pull/push up to 10 pounds.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
