Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant - Corporate is tasked with reviewing financial transactions, preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, preparing tax returns, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties. After a 90-day probationary period, there is an opportunity for a hybrid schedule with supervisor approval. Reports To:

The Senior Accountant – Corporate reports to the Corporate Controller at the main office in Columbus, Ohio.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Complete the monthly close process for Woda Cooper Companies, Inc., its subsidiaries, and affiliates. This includes preparing journal entries, account analyses, and reconciliations, updating monthly close files, and ensuring sub-ledgers align with corresponding communities/projects.
• Compile timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for review by the Corporate Controller.
• Assist the Staff Accountant with reviewing accounts and bank reconciliations as needed.
• Review actuals versus budgets and perform analysis.
• Promptly complete the ancillary billing processes, verify accuracy, and confirm successful upload by the Staff Accountant.
• Meet processing and reporting deadlines.
• Recommend ways to reduce costs and enhance revenue.
• Prepare documentation for external auditors.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP.
• Accurately complete special reports and projects as requested.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Previous experience with financial statement creation and analysis
• Good problem-solving, analytical, and time-management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and leadership skills.
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Highly organized and detail oriented.
• Working knowledge of GAAP.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• At least 2 years of accounting experience.
