Overview Join to apply for the Sr. Backend Engineer, LogScale Search (Remote, East Coast) role at CrowdStrike About The Role: Our mission is to make all of our customers’ security-relevant data continuously available for automated detection and response, threat hunting, and other Falcon use cases. To enable this, the systems behind NG-SIEM are growing to accommodate >100 PB of event and action data ingested daily, up to 10 years of retention, and dozens of millions of queries per hour across large data sets. As a Senior Engineer on the LogScale Search team you will deliver scale by developing new features and improving existing functionality. You will join a distributed team of engineers who share a passion for the product and work on hard engineering problems that do not have well-defined solutions. You will drive the company’s vision of a fast, reliable and best-in-class log storage solution. Teams in LogScale have autonomy and own parts of the LogScale experience from ideation and development to deployment and feedback. This includes ensuring high quality features through automated tests and manual validation, monitoring production features with LogScale dashboards, and ensuring scalability and stability of clusters. What You’ll Do Work in a team of colleagues supporting each other through code reviews, pairing, documentation, design reviews and technical guidance Lead by example on customer and product focus and operational excellence by monitoring features released to customers and troubleshooting critical issues Deliver cross-team platform initiatives by owning or participating in scoping, designing and developing new features for open-ended problems Develop the LogScale backend in Scala and extend the product to handle increasing ingest and query load while ensuring high availability Collaborate across teams to define and deliver new solutions, design documents, technical talks and improve internal documentation Work in a remote-first environment with strong verbal and written communication across global teams What You’ll Need A passion for distributed systems and curiosity about how running systems perform 6+ years of software development experience with ability to balance short-term delivery and long-term product goals Experience contributing to broad technical leadership in products or services Fluency in functional and object-oriented programming and ability to learn new languages quickly A can-do attitude and ability to collaborate in a team and take on responsibilities Demonstrated track record of operational excellence in complex distributed services Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to individual contributors and management Bonus Points Experience programming in Scala Experience with commercial clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP) Experience with compilers and language design Hands-on experience with large-scale distributed system architecture, high scalability and availability, and optimization (e.g., 1+ trillion requests per day or 10+ PB of data per day) Exposure to or experience with Log Management or cybersecurity products Benefits Of Working At CrowdStrike Remote-friendly and flexible work culture Competitive compensation and equity awards Comprehensive wellness programs Vacation and holidays for recharge Paid parental and adoption leaves Professional development opportunities Employee networks and volunteer opportunities to build connections Vibrant office culture with amenities Great Place to Work Certification Notice : CrowdStrike is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and is committed to fostering a culture of belonging.
