GENERAL SUMMARY

Salary: $13.00/hr. The candidate should be in a degree plan for entrance into the environmental or public health and food safety field. They would work under the supervision of the Health Official or his staff to learn and assist in inspections of food establishments, swimming pools, daycares and other areas of environmental health and food safety. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • All drivers with necessity) Drive to and from destinations as assigned by supervisor.
Conduct inspections at food establishments according to City Health ordinances and the Texas Food Establishment Rules under the direction of Registered Sanitarians. Conduct inspections on swimming pools/spas under the direction of Registered Sanitarians. Update public information for use on the City's Health and Vector Control web sites; coordinate activities with the Department web site administrator. Revise inspection forms for the Health Division as assigned. Research topical issues and best practices in the field of public health as assigned; provide support to the Health Official or other employees of the Department responsible for preparing ordinances related to public health. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION Currently enrolled in a college or university with a degree plan that prepares the student for a career in public health/food safety or environmental health. EXPERIENCE No experience necessary. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Possession of a valid driver's license. WORK SCHEDULE Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Each pay period, 6.2% of wages will be deducted from pay and deposited into your PARS ARS account. Contributions are made on a pre-tax basis. Each pay period, the City will also contribute the equivalent of 1.3% of wages into a PARS ARS account. Employer contributions are deposited on a pre-tax basis.
