Job Description Under the direction of Manager, Volunteer Services, the Volunteer Program Specialist (VPS) provides oversight, planning, and execution of new and existing strategic Junior and Adult Volunteer programs.
The Volunteer Program Specialist assists the Manger, Volunteer Services overseeing the recruitment, placement, on-boarding, training and support, and is responsible for entering and maintaining said volunteer records in the Volunteer Services database.
The Volunteer Program Specialist is critical to our person centered environment leading by example and educating volunteers, employees, and physicians. Whether providing care to patients, communicating educational information, or providing support to caregivers, the VPS must be an example doing so with respect and compassion demonstrating our values and always putting patients first.
Responsibilities 1. The VPS is responsible for the oversight of key Volunteer programs that align with our strategic direction of access to services.
2. Recruits, places, trains and coaches all Junior and Adult Volunteers and is responsible for maintaining their respective records.
3. Evaluates, analyzes data, and generates reports and trends for new existing adult and junior volunteer programs on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Tracks evaluation data and presents outcomes to Manager and Director.
4. Manages all aspects of external volunteer partnerships (i.e. JM Wright Technical High School, ARI, Abilis, etc.) to ensure compliance with Stamford Health's policies, processes and standards.
5. Coordinates planning, communication, logistics and execution of all volunteer interview sessions and orientations.
6. Facilitates all aspects of volunteers on boarding experience including pre and post health and safety screenings.
7. With assistance from Manager, Volunteer Services, addresses any volunteer relations through collaboration with respective department.
8. Supports volunteers and departments through regular rounding to assigned volunteer departments and sites.
9. Creates and presents on volunteer services and programs as requested.
10. Maintains and audits volunteers personnel files for completion and to ensure Joint Commission and Stamford Health compliance.
11. Coordinates volunteer placement and scheduling for all volunteers initial assignments and as needed by departments.
12. Actively participates on at least one Culture and Experience Committee.
13. Responsibilities will also include various projects and/or volunteer coordination as assigned.
Qualifications Three or more years experience in healthcare setting performing similar duties.
The ability to work well with individuals at all organizational levels, patients and the community is required.
High level of competency with computer software, hardware, and internet is required.
Knowledge of MS Office or equivalent is required.
Knowledge of database software is required.
Superior verbal, organizational, presentation, and interpersonal skills is required.
Prior experience facilitating presentations and speaking to large audiences is preferred.
This is a Per Diem Position typically working up to 8 hours per week.
