Job Title: Wind Turbine Technician - Level 2
Location: Blue Earth, MN Pay: $25-30/hr - W2 Only
Contract Length: 12+ Months


Job Summary:


The Wind Turbine Technician - Level 2 is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of wind turbines. This role requires proficiency in diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues while maintaining a high level of safety. The technician may work independently but still requires supervision, especially in unusual or complex situations. This position is open to both internal and external candidates, with specific training and experience requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

• 60% - Wind Turbine Maintenance:
  
  
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults in wind turbines.
  • Perform pad-mounted transformer switching in line with Energy Isolation Procedures.
  • Carry out both small and large corrective tasks on wind turbines.
  • Adhere to the scheduled workweek and be available for on-call shifts as directed by the manager.
  • Climb wind turbines up to 300 feet multiple times daily.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times while working in an outdoor environment.
  • Operate machinery including forklifts and groundskeeping equipment as necessary.
• 20% - Compliance and Administrative Tasks:
  
  
  • Maintain Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) documentation.
  • Complete paperwork such as work orders, timesheets, tool and PPE inventories.
• 20% - Site Support and Travel:
  
  
  • Provide support to other wind facilities within the Deriva Energy Sustainable Solutions network.
  • Be willing to travel to assist with wind turbine maintenance at other sites when needed.

Qualifications:

• Internal Candidates:
  
  
  • Minimum of 1 year of technical experience with the company as a Wind Technician.
  • Must have completed the Turbine Technician I JPM and Electrical Operator I JPM .
  • Completion of the Intermediate Knowledge Requirement is mandatory before achieving this level.
• External Candidates:
  
  
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in wind turbine maintenance or related fields.
  • Must pass the Turbine Technician I JPM and Electrical Operator I JPM within the probationary period.

Working Conditions:

• Outdoor work in various weather conditions.
• Physical demands include climbing wind turbines and handling heavy equipment.
• Willingness to travel as required for site support.
