The Workforce Specialist plays a critical role in assisting individuals in securing employment and navigating the path to citizenship. This position combines the responsibilities of a case manager with specialized knowledge in workforce development and immigration processes. The Workforce Specialist provides personalized support, resources, and guidance to help clients achieve their employment goals and successfully integrate into the community as citizens.

 

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or GED required.
  2. Knowledge of community resources preferred.
  3. Bilingual required.
  4. Must be 21 years old or over.
  5. A valid California driver’s license is required of staff who have regular driving duties, and the driving record must meet the requirements of their position and be approved by the agency’s insurance company.

 

Essential Job Functions:

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide access, advocacy, resources and linkage to clients Provide outreach services to parents, including identifying areas that need to be strengthened, setting goals, and helping to achieve targeted goals with the families.
  2. Interact productively within a multi-disciplinary team to provide services to an identified group of families.
  3. Provides a variety of individual services such as job development, training, testing, and counseling services, utilizing a case management model to enable individuals who are economically disadvantaged, dislocated, or have multiple employment barriers to find appropriate work.
  4. Provides a comprehensive evaluation of employment and training needs. Assesses customer skills by interviewing, testing, and other methods.
  5. Works with customers to develop individual training plans and engage employer placement contacts. Assists clients with job placement, including job-search classes, and employment contacts.
  6. Assesses customer needs, authorizes, and facilitates supportive services to assist in removing barriers that may prevent successful program completion.
  7. Monitors and records participant data into multiple management information systems.
  8. May facilitate group processes including testing, workshops, orientations, and job clubs.
  9. Attend Community Events/Meetings as directed.
  10. Responsible for preventing and controlling infection.
  11. Responsible for maintaining a culture of quality and safety.
  12. Effectively use de-escalation skills and techniques for crisis prevention.

 

Other:

  1. Attend all required meetings and trainings.
  2. Report any suspected child or dependent adult/elder abuse or neglect immediately to direct supervisor or utilize the chain of command if supervisor is unavailable.
  3. Report any client imminent danger to self or to others or gravely disabled immediately to direct supervisor or utilize the chain of command if supervisor is unavailable.
  4. Other duties as assigned.
