Job Description

Position Summary

The Assistant Athletic Director reports to the Athletic Director and is responsible for supporting the Athletics program and its student-athletes. The Assistant Athletic Director supports outstanding achievement and success in the various dimensions of the Athletics Program and serves as a very public member of the Moreau Catholic community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To assist the Athletic Director in administering all office responsibilities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support parent programming and engagement
  • Manage student-athlete programming and engagement
    • Assist the Athletic Director in leadership opportunities for student-athletes
    • In partnership with the counseling department, coordinate education and programming for students and their families interested in playing college athletics
    • Oversee nominations of student-athletes for section and state awards and scholarships
  • Community engagement and outreach
    • Work with the Director of Advancement and head varsity coaches on alumni engagement
  • Provide leadership in program development, program analysis, and Sport Supervisor
  • Serve as a site director/representative during assigned home games and post-season contests
  • Manage/Run the online athletic website
  • Create Video & Digital content and run the athletic social media accounts
    • Currently utilize Gipper to create graphics
  • Oversee sports information and public relations of sports teams
  • Manage mobile/online ticketing services & online broadcast production
  • Work with Site Services to manage team transportation
  • Manage game day supervision, including game day equipment preparations, set up and supervision, and payment of game workers
  • Manage student volunteers for games and score-keeping
  • The primary liaison to coordinate with the Booster Board with the concession stand & Mariner wear pop-up stand. Manage all parent volunteers.
  • In collaboration with Advancement, recruit, train, and manage parent/adult volunteers
  • Oversee Mariner Athletic Study Hall (MASH) & Grades with Dropout Detective
  • Assist the Athletic Director with updating the internal school calendar
  • Work with the Athletic Director on Open House material and promotion of student-athletes
  • In conjunction with the Athletic Director, coordinate with Campus Supervisors about athletic events
  • Assist the Athletic Director with forms and documents from NCS & CIF
  • Assist as needed with travel budgets, reservations, and responsibilities for varsity teams
  • Assist with coordinating Senior Nights and Signing Days
  • Assist the Athletic Director with the Annual Crab Feed
  • Monitor Locker Room (as needed) before, during, and after school
  • Technology—Proficient in the various systems we use and able to help structure tasks for maximum efficiency
  • Responsible for ensuring all onboarding and compliance of coaches is met. Monitor authorized coaches on campus.

Other duties as required:

  • May be required to teach one or more classes as needed and directed by the Principal & AD
  • Must be able to travel to athletic facilities and attend and supervise athletic events held outdoors in any kind of weather.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule; substantial evening and weekend time required.
  • Must be able to drive students /athletes in a 9-passenger van to games or practices (DMV Clearance through Pull Notice Program)

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Observe and evaluate, both verbally and in writing, coaches during practices and games and collaborate with the AD and coaches to support excellence in all teams.
  • Communicate with the AD and coaches daily or semi-weekly regarding needs of athletes, performance of teams, transportation needs, etc.

Qualifications

  • B.A. or B.S. minimum, M.S. in Sports Management or similar degree highly desirable.
  • 2-5 years experience in a school setting or equivalent. Experience in a high school, college, or professional environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience in a variety of sports.
  • Have experience with digital media and/or graphic design and works well with various social media platforms
  • Experience with athletic management and/ or prior coaching experience is encouraged.
  • CA Teaching Credential encouraged.
  • Appryse; EXCEL, MS WORD, Google Docs, Email, Website design, and calendar creator or ability to quickly acquire the skills to work with technology platforms and systems such
  • CPR, First Aid/AED, DMV check

Physical Demands

The employee must be able to set up, take down, and move athletic equipment. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs while performing his/her duties. The employee must be able to use a ladder to move equipment and supplies.

Annual Salary: $72,916 - $89,676
