MARRAKESH COUNTRY CLUB AND COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

PALM DESERT, CA

THE GENERAL MANAGER/CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER OPPORTUNITY AT MARRAKESH COUNTRY CLUB AND COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

Marrakesh Country Club and Community Association Club seeks an experienced and visibly engaged General Manager to lead its combined country club and HOA under one board of directors. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, transparent, and thoughtful leader with proven expertise in communications, HOA management, financial oversight, food and beverage, golf operations, fitness, and wellness. Strong skills in relationship building, team leadership, and personnel management are essential.

Success in this role requires proven experience in planning and executing the Clubs strategic and annual business plans. The new GM will prioritize delivering exceptional member and guest experiences while serving as an active Thought Partner with the Marrakesh Board to unify the club and community. Deep knowledge of industry trends, a strong presence, natural gravitas, and a proactive, sincere leadership style are essential. Above all, a genuine passion for building meaningful relationships with members and staff is vital.

Leadership is the key to this position. The goal is to present Marrakesh every day as a unique, historically significant residential, social, and executive golf community in the Coachella Valley and beyond.

ABOUT MARRAKESH COUNTRY CLUB AND COMMUNITY

Nestled against the dramatic backdrop of the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains, Marrakesh Country Club is a private, gated community that offers an exceptional blend of architectural distinction, active living, and timeless desert charm located within close proximity to the world-famous El Paseo shopping and dining district. Conceived by legendary club developer Johnny Dawson, Marrakesh was inspired by the warm, pink glow of its Moroccan namesake and brought to life by Hollywood Regency master architect John Elgin Woolf. His signature style defines the 364 homes across the 155-acre property, making it one of the deserts most architecturally significant communities. Marrakesh has been featured in national publications such as The New York Times, Town & Country, and Palm Springs Life, among others.

At the heart of Marrakesh lies the newly renovated clubhouse, a stunning reimagining of Woolfs original design, now updated with the refined touch of renowned interior designer Tom Scheerer. This central gathering space includes elegant dining areas, social lounges, and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. A state-of-the-art fitness center sits on the clubhouses first floor, offering modern cardio, strength, and flexibility equipment, complemented by access to personal trainers and inspiring views of the iconic waterfall and golf course.

Marrakesh is home to one of the finest executive 18-hole courses in the country, designed by the celebrated Ted Robinson. Framed by sweeping vistas and lush fairways, the course offers challenging play for golfers of all skill levels and is supported by a fully stocked pro shop, practice facilities, and an indoor golf simulator. Beyond golf, members enjoy an array of amenities including tennis, pickleball, bocce ball, croquet, and 14 sparkling pools with adjacent spas and pavilions located throughout the community.

An active social calendar enriches life at Marrakesh, with offerings that include yoga and water aerobics, hiking and biking excursions, art and book clubs, bridge, wine tastings, speaker series, and culinary events.

Marrakesh is first and foremost a unique community of people from various walks of life: design, the arts, film and television, corporate business, and entrepreneurs who are brought together through the unique architectural distinction of Marrakesh homes. The spirit of Marrakesh is one of connection and vitality, where heritage and style meet modern convenience, and where residents become part of a welcoming, vibrant, and enduring desert oasis.

The future of Marrakesh is bright. With over 50% of the membership new since 2018, there has been a generational change with a younger, increasingly affluent demographic. The Club and homes are pending historical designation by the City of Palm Desert, and the Club is in the early planning/proposal phase of a comprehensive $12M master landscape, irrigation, and lighting project expected to roll out over five to seven years.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of Marrakesh Country Club and Marrakesh Community Association is to personify a welcoming, inclusive community that values and respects all members and employees; provide social, dining, and recreational opportunities that encourage the interaction of members and guests; and to preserve our unique architectural, landscape and cultural heritage while guided by sound, transparent principles of finance and governance.
