The Lactation Consultant is responsible for providing lactation consultation and education for breastfeeding mothers at Alta Bates Medical Center regardless of age, race, religion, ability, and economic or social status. The Lactation Consultant has excellent assessment and implementation skills to assist the breastfeeding mother attain her individual goals. Lactation Consultant should have outpatient lactation experience and be available cover variable AM and PM shift hours.EDUCATIONBachelor's Degree in Nursing RequiredCERTIFICATION & LICENSURERN-Registered Nurse of California RequiredCLE-Certified Lactation Educator upon hire RequiredIBCLC-International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, within 2 years of employment RequiredBLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider RequiredEXPERIENCEMinimum of two years experience in perinatal nursing or perinatal education.
