Geisinger is proud to offer a Patient Care Technician a $18.94 minimum hiring rate with increased rates for experienced individuals and up to $3 shift differentials for evening, nights, and weekend shifts! Also offering up to $40,000 in financial support to become a nurse! The ACE Nursing Model of Care will utilize more Patient Care Technician staff to take responsibility for and perform the duties that do not require a nursing license, freeing the licensed nurse to perform the advanced skills that align with nursing education and training. Primary duties include facilitation of ADLs such as hygiene, toileting, mobility, meals, vital signs, point of care testing, turning & repositioning, daily weights, equipment checks & exchanges. Additional training provided on advanced patient care skills including advanced dressing care, suctioning, removal of Foley Catheter, peripheral IV, venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens. The role involves performing a wide variety of advanced patient care duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, maintaining patient care and unit environment consistent with policies and procedures. Responsibilities include enhanced patient care, specimen handling, assisting with patient hygiene, safety watch, clerical duties, coordinating patient transportation, and assisting with medication transport. The position is full-time nights (7pm-7:30am) with no experience needed and comprehensive on the job training provided. Education required is High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) and Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months. Skills needed include communication, computer literacy, and mathematics.
